Day 3: Sharpen your knives – and use tools and tactics to increase confidence and make you a master chef!
Hey there!
So glad you made it!
Welcome back to The Leadership Coach’s Cookbook: 5 Secret Ingredients to Grow Your Consulting Practice, Attract VIP Clients, and Build Lifetime Loyalty!
Yesterday, we built the foundation of our menu through effective communication.
And today…
We’re sharpening our tools.
And slicing and dicing the negativity out of our recipe and replacing our self-doubt with self-efficacy.
Confidence is the key to establishing yourself as a trusted advisor that VIP clients believe in and listen to.
But first, we need to find where the smell is coming from…
3 ways self-doubt is a rotten egg:
- Feeling like a cook – not a chef: Feeling like a fraud and a phony – even when you’re clearly not – is called imposter syndrome. Even seasoned consultants with brilliant ideas and plans fall prey to thinking they don’t belong in the kitchen. When fear creeps in, insecurity isn’t far behind.
- Stepping in the social comparison sticky trap: When we don’t always have the answers to something, we often result to checking out what others are doing and follow suit. This is called social comparison. And we do it for just about everything we aren’t completely confident about. It’s a sticky trap covered in syrup that we walk ourselves right into.
- Mental Gordon Ramsay: Sometimes our inner chef critic is Rachel Ray – bubbly, friendly, caring, and just a little annoying. Other times, it’s a loud, angry, British celebrity chef who points out your mistakes and throws frozen chicken at you! Sadly, the latter is the one we listen to and remember the most.
